2005 Chevrolet Uplander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the lower ball joint on 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: Position the lower Control Arm in a vise before you uninstall it from the vehicle. Use mechanical tools to cut through the ball stud rivets on the lower Control Arm. Beat out the rivets using a hammer and drift punch to free up the ball stud. Place the new ball stud onto the bottom Control Arm by having its bolt ends pointing downward away from the ball stud installation direction. Both connection parts must be cleaned and rust-free with proper fastener torque reaching 2 nm before seating. If not possible replace the fastener. Place the brand-new ball stud nuts beforeundoing thelower Control Arm and tightening the nuts to 68 nm (50 ft. Lbs.).
