2005 Chevrolet Uplander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: Before changing the vacuum Brake Booster you need to let fuel line pressure out and empty the cooling system. You must remove three main components including the Coolant Reservoir air cleaner bracket and powertrain control module case. Place the pcm neighboring components without detaching power wires and remove the air filter system and its duct first. Remove fuel pipe attachments then move the heater tube to cross over coolant. To reach the pipes for installation of the new brake system a technician needs to disconnect ported fuel lines from their shock tower position while unmounting the brake master fluid level switch and brake lines with the master cylinder. Unplug the abs unit and its housing and lower the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose from the valve's open end to install later. Carefully detach the knee bolster then pull out the boost pin clip along with the washer from the Brake Pedal. Afterward disconnect the Brake Booster push rod from inside the pedal. Take off the Brake Booster mounting nuts to remove the two Engine Mount components plus their nuts and bolts. Shift the engine position forward to reveal the Brake Booster and detach it from its place. Put the Brake Booster onto the cowl and mounting plate before securing it with Brake Booster mounting nuts at 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Connect the master cylinder first before adding the Brake Booster push rod to the Brake Pedal and fixing it using the washer and clips. After setting the Brake Pedal position sensor correctly install the knee bolster assembly. Reposition the motor before putting back the engine mounts and fixing the mounting hardware. Reattach the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to its connection at the check valve before installing the abs module bracket and unit. Install the Brake Master Cylinder and add its corresponding brake lines before installing the fluid level sensor switch at its regular spot. Connect fuel lines back to shock tower plus inlet hose to the intersecting cooling system part. You must reinstall the air cleaner and duct alongside the pcm and its cover together with the left front cross brace and Coolant Reservoir. Finish adding cooling fluid to the system while draining air. Also drain air from the brake system.
