2005 Chevrolet Venture Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Begin Thermostat replacement by taking out the air cleaner and duct assembly followed by draining coolant to a level below the Thermostat position. The crossover Exhaust Pipe and Radiator Hose must both be separated from the Thermostat Housing. Begin by removing Thermostat Housing bolts then cleaning sealer out of bolt threads before removing the Thermostat Housing with its gasket and Thermostat attached. The process starts with Thermostat mating surface cleaning prior to installing both the Thermostat and housing and gasket. Bolt threads on the Thermostat Housing require gm p/n 1052366 rtv sealer or equivalent which must be applied before inserting the Thermostat Housing bolts so tighten them to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). You should install the Radiator Hose onto the Thermostat Housing before adding the crossover Exhaust Pipe followed by reinstalling the air cleaner and duct assembly. Complete the cooling system with fluid while checking for any leaks throughout the process. Perform repairs to fix discovered leaks.
