Begin your 2500/3500 series rear disc Brake Backing Plate replacement by disabling the automatic adjuster of the park brake cable. Remove the backing plate nuts first before taking the backing plate away from the axle housing flange. Since you need to mount the backing plate onto the axle housing flange first thread all backing plate nuts in. Then tighten the bolts on the backing plate until they reach 135 nm or 100 ft lbs torque. Place the park brake shoe back in its position before adjusting the shoe correctly and activating automatic park brake cable adjustment.
