To service and repair the coil spring, start by removing the strut from the car. Then, mount the strut into the strut spring compressor (J 45400). Make sure that the spring is compressed, as the strut moves freely; turn the spring compressor forcing screw so that the coil spring becomes compressed. And use a 45 torx socket to clamp the strut shaft and make it loosen the nut of the upper strut mount using strut rod nut socket (J 42991). After checking out the strut from strut spring compressor (J 45400), loosen the compressor forcing screw, so that the upper strut mount and coil spring could be removed. For assembly, place the coil spring in with the upper strut mount into the strut spring compressor ( J 45400) compressing the coil spring by turning the spring compressor forcing screw. Mount the strut to the coil spring and the upper strut mount, and then tighten the strut retain nut using the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) and a 45 torx socket; tighten strut mount nut to 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.). Finally, extract the strut from the strut spring compressor ( J 45400) and then re-install it to the vehicle.
