2006 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2006 Buick LaCrosse?
A: To remove the knuckle, one would first have to raise and support the vehicle correctly, followed by removing the tire and wheel assembly. Scribe the strut to the knuckle before removing the bearing/hub assembly. Next, take out the rear wheel rods spindle from the knuckle, and remove the Trailing Arm from the knuckle. After that, take off the rear strut to knuckle bolts and the nuts , and therefore take off the knuckle off the vehicle. First, for the knuckle reinstall, mount the knuckle onto the vehicle, and hand start the strut to the knuckle bolts and nuts. Do not tighten them yet. Attach the rear knuckle suspension Trailing Arm-ball joint to the knuckle using the appropriate nut. Mount the rear wheel spindles rods on to the knuckle. Replace the bearing/hub assembly, paying attention to the fastener notice in service precautions, and then tighten the strut to knuckle bolts and nuts to 120 nm (89 ft. Lbs.). Finally, put back the tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle and examine the rear wheel alignment, adjusting it if required.
