The collection includes a strut rod nut socket (J 42991) as well as a strut spring compressor (J 45400). You require two tools for strut work: strut rod nut socket (J 42991) and strut spring compressor (J 45400). Place the removed strut into the strut spring compressor (J 45400) before beginning installation. The spring needs to be compressed when the strut moves freely so turn the spring compressor forcing screw to compress the coil spring. Use a 45 torx(R) socket to secure the strut shaft during removal of the upper strut mount nut with strut rod nut socket (J 42991). When operating the strut spring compressor (J 45400), carefully release the compressor forcing screw to detach the upper strut mount along with the coil spring. After placing the upper strut mount and coil spring back into the strut spring compressor (J 45400) continue compressing the coil spring. Secure the strut shaft with its coil spring by placing the upper strut mount on the shaft before tightening the strut mount nut to 75 n.m (55 lb ft) with the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) and 45 torx(R) socket. Use the strut spring compressor (J 45400) to extract the strut afterward it goes back into your vehicle.
