2006 Buick Terraza Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the front coil springs and shock absorber on 2006 Buick Terraza?
A: The first step to servicing or repairing suspension struts requires total removal of the strut component from the vehicle. Afterward install the strut into the strut spring compressor (J 45400). The spring needs to stay compressed throughout the strut's movement. Use the forcing screw on the spring compressor to apply tension that compresses the coil spring. A 45 torx socket should grip the strut shaft while you use the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) to loosen the upper strut mount nut. Empty the strut from the strut spring compressor (J 45400) then unscrew the compressor forcing screw while simultaneously extracting the upper strut mount and coil spring. The assembly starts by positioning the coil spring and upper strut mount onto the strut spring compressor (J 45400) followed by turning the spring compressor forcing screw to achieve correct coil spring compression. Next install the strut to the coil spring combined with upper strut mount followed by a loose installation of the strut retaining nut. Install the upper strut mount nut with aid of the 45 torx socket while using the strut rod nut socket (part number J 42991) to tighten the nut to 85 nm (63 ft. Lbs.). Use the strut spring compressor (J 45400) to extract the strut before placing it into the vehicle's assembly.
