You must disable SIR system before replacing the steering wheel. The inflatable restraint steering wheel module needs removal along with the steering column electrical connector removal. Proceed by taking off the steering wheel retaining nut. Use Steering Wheel Puller Legs (J42578) and Steering Wheel Puller (J1859-A) to attach to the steering wheel before using these tools to remove it. Start by placing the steering wheel onto its column while you install the retaining nut and apply 41 Nm (30 ft.lbs.) of tightness. After connecting the steering column electrical connector you should proceed with module inflator installation after turning on the SIR system.
