• Q: How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2006 Cadillac DTS?

  A: When replacing an Engine Control Module (ECM) one must first note the remaining values of engine oil life and automatic transaxle fluid because the default values at 100% will trigger an immediate oil change at 5000 km (3,000 mi) and automatic transaxle fluid change at 83000 km (50,000 mi) after the last maintenance. A scan tool will enable you to retrieve the percentages of engine oil life and transaxle fluid life so they can be documented. The engine should be off while you disconnect the negative terminal battery wire.
