• Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2006 Cadillac DTS?

  A: In order to replace the Intake Manifold, first, the Fuel Injector sight shield cover has to be removed, then the front ignition coil module engine harness electrical connector (3) has to be disconnected, the front fuel injectors engine harness electrical connectors (1); the rear ignition coil module engine harness electrical connector (4) has to be disconnected, the rear fuel injectors engine harness electrical connectors also (3). Then remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) foul air tube quick connect fitting from the right camshaft cover and the pcv fresh air tube quick connect fitting from the camshaft cover. Remove the fuel feed line quick connect fitting at the Fuel Rail (1), reposition the radiator surge tank inlet hose/pipe clamp on the surge tank, remove the surge tank inlet hose/pipe from the surge tank and engine fitting. Loosen the 2 pushnuts that hold the surge tank inlet hose/pipe to the Fuel Rail studs and remove the engine harness retainer off the Fuel Rail stud and the coolant heater cord tabs from the Fuel Rail studs if present. Loosen the fuel injector pipe bracket nut at the rear left lift bracket (2) and the fuel injector pipe connector (1) and fuel injector pipe. Loosen the plenum duct clamp screw (1) on water pump housing, remove the Intake Manifold bolts and the Intake Manifold itself. Drain the pcv foul air tube quick connect fitting at the Intake Manifold and remove the pcv foul air tube from the retaining features, from the Intake Manifold. To install the pcv foul air tube quick connect fitting is connected at the Intake Manifold and to the retaining features, the pcv foul air tube will be installed. Lightly coat the inside edge of the rubber plenum duct in the housing of the water pump with a lubricant like grease, then fit the internal part and tighten the internal bolts but still snug easing the bolts in the specified sequence into 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) let's move to the other side of the engine and address this side of Intake Manifold. Make sure the Intake Manifold has been completely installed in the plenum duct on the water pump housing, and secure it there with the plenum duct clamp screw (1) to 2.75 nm (24 inch lbs.). Oil the Fuel Injector lower o-ring seals with clean engine oil and then install the Fuel Rail and Fuel Rail studs (1) tighten to 10 nm (89 inch lbs). Place the Fuel Rail bracket nut (2) at the rear left lift bracket and tighten to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Put the coolant heater cord tabs to the Fuel Rail studs if equipped. Install the engine harness retainer on to one of the Fuel Rail studs, surge tank inlet hose/pipe to the other Fuel Rail studs then tighten it with the 2 pushnuts. Attach the surge tank inlet hose/pipe to the engine fitting, locate the radiator surge tank inlet hose/pipe clamp to the engine, and install the surge tank inlet hose/pipe to the surge tank, locating the radiator surge tank inlet hose/pipe clamp to the surge tank. Connect the fuel feed line (1) quick connect fitting to the Fuel Rail connector; pcv fresh air tube quick connect fitting with camshaft cover; and the pcv foul air tube quick connect fitting to the right camshaft cover. Finally, connect the rear fuel injectors engine harness electrical connectors (3), the rear ignition coil module engine harness electrical connector (4), the front fuel injectors engine harness electrical connectors (1), and the front ignition coil module engine harness electrical connector (3) and re install the Fuel Injector sight shield cover.
