Take the exact pipe measurement then provide additional length of 6.35 mm (0.250 inch) for 4.76 mm (3/16 inch) pipes and 9.50 mm (0.374 inch) for 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) pipes using proper tools. Use the J 45405 to tighten the brake pipe cutter until you cut through it right. Use the right brake pipe and nuts sizes then polish the flare area with corresponding tools found in the J 45405 set. Fit tube nuts onto the pipe and sanitize both the brake pipe and J 45405 from impurities before inserting chosen die sets into the die cage. Insert the prepared pipe one end into the dies before tightening the clamping screw and shaping the end through the forming tool. The formed flare has to meet both size requirements: 6.92 mm (0.272 inch) for 4.76 mm (3/16 inch) pipe sections and 8.92 mm (0.351 inch) for 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) pipe sections.
