How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2006 Cadillac SRX?

Before handling the liftgate latch you need to unscrew and remove the liftgate trim panel while the liftgate stays open. Remove the bolts from the liftgate latch while disconnecting the liftgate latch release cable. Remove the liftgate latch by disconnecting its electrical connectors before taking the part out of the liftgate. Attach power connections to the new liftgate latch while putting in the liftgate latch release cable at its attachment point. Feed the liftgate latch into the open area while keeping to the fastener notice in service precautions then bolt it in place with 10 nm torque (89 lb/in). Put the liftgate lid trim panel back in place then press the liftgate shut.
