How to disconnect and reconnect the negative battery cable on 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt?

To remove the negative cable of the battery, first remove the rear compartment trim panel and write down all vehicle preset radio stations. Make sure that all lamps and accessories are turned off and Ignition Switch is in off position. Loosen the negative Battery Cable bolt and remove negative Battery Cable from the battery. Upon installation, scrape off any oxidation from the contact face of the battery terminal and Battery Cable with a wire brushed before attaching the negative cable from the battery drive onto the battery. Make sure to tighten the negative Battery Cable bolt to 17 nm (13 ft. Lbs.), then replace the rear compartment trim panel. Last, reset the radio stations and clock.
