    A: Start by disconnecting the battery negative cable and installing the engine support fixture (J39295-B) before proceeding to change the Oil Pan. Start by supporting the vehicle and removing the air conditioning compressor mounting bracket before moving onto the engine-to-transaxle brace bolts (1, 2) and finally the engine-to-transaxle brace. Begin by taking out the Starter and remove the Transfer Case when your vehicle has all-wheel drive (AWD). During front-wheel drive replacement remove the intermediate shaft from the vehicle. Start by removing the frame followed by draining the engine oil and finishing with the Oil Filter removal. First remove all the bolts from the Oil Pan side and the sealing surface of the Oil Pan then remove the Oil Pan itself. Wipe down both the Oil Pan and the engine block gasket surface. Seal gm p/n 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) should be applied to the crankshaft rear main bearing cap sides and the interface between the engine front cover and engine block with a putty knife to press the sealer into the gap. Position the Oil Pan Gasket before placing the Oil Pan. Tighten the Oil Pan flange bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) and use the torque wrench adapter (J 39505) to torques the Oil Pan side bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Install the new Oil Filter followed by securing the frame and installing the intermediate shaft and then reinstall the frame if your model has fwd. Perform the installation of the Transfer Case if your vehicle utilizes awd system. First replace the Starter unit followed by the engine-to-transaxle brace, then bolt the engine-to-transaxle brace down using 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) torque. Install the air conditioning compressor mounting bracket, lower the vehicle, remove the engine support fixture (J39295-B) afterward connect the negative Battery Cable before filling the engine with new engine oil.
