2007 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: You should start by disconnecting the negative cable of the vehicle's battery and then use the engine support fixture (J43801-B) to raise and support your vehicle. Start by uninstalling the A/C Compressor along with the engine-to-transaxle brace bolts numbered 1 and 2 and the engine-to-transaxle brace. Starting with Starter removal proceed to remove Transfer Case along with all-wheel drive systems (AWD). Front-wheel drive (FWD) vehicles use intermediate shaft removal instead. The intermediate shaft becomes removable after disconnecting all-wheel drive (FWD). Start by draining engine oil and removing the Oil Filter before proceeding to extract the Oil Pan side bolts and Oil Pan sealing surface bolts for eventual Oil Pan removal. Apply sealer to all sides of the crankshaft rear main bearing cap along with the contact points between the engine front cover and engine block. Use a putty knife to force the sealer into these areas. Fitting the Oil Pan Gasket and Oil Pan requires installation of Oil Pan flange bolts followed by torqueing the bolts up to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Install the Oil Pan side bolts first before using the torque wrench adapter (J 39505) to reach 50 n.m (37 lb ft) for tightening. Lower models with fwd require an intermediate shaft replacement while awd models need a Transfer Case installation. Reinstall the Starter and the engine-to-transaxle brace while installing the engine-to-transaxle brace bolts (1, 2) with final torque set to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). First reconnect the A/C Compressor before lowering the vehicle to remove the engine support fixture (J43801-B) and connect the negative Battery Cable and perform a new engine oil filling.
