First lift the vehicle properly then remove the crankshaft balancer and lower belt idler pulley and engine Oil Pan before dropping the vehicle back to its original position. Part two of replacement requires left belt idler pulley removal alongside right Engine Mount Bracket bolts (2-4) and right Engine Mount Bracket extraction. Closely remove the Water Pump together with the thermostat bypass hose adapter along with the radiator outlet hose from the engine front cover. Proceed with engine front cover bolt removal steps (2-4) and move on to extract the front cover piece before you tackle the front cover gasket section. Before installing gasket 6679 the lower tabs of engine front cover gasket require gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) sealer.contact the lower tabs of the engine front cover gasket with a 5.0 mm (0.20 inch) wide uniform sealant application. Put the gasket in place on the engine block next to the locating pins . After this install the engine front cover and adjust for the location pins. Fix the engine front cover bolts (3, 4) to 55 nm (41 ft. Lbs.) before locking down engine front cover bolts at 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall these components starting with the radiator outlet hose followed by the thermostat bypass hose adapter and ending with Water Pump installation. The right Engine Mount Bracket requires installation along with its bolts (2-4) that should be tightened to 55 nm (41 ft. Lbs.). Next, torque the Engine Mount Bracket bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). The left belt idler pulley gets mounted first, followed by raising the vehicle for support while you install the engine Oil Pan and lower belt idler pulley and crankshaft balancer. Finish by lowering the vehicle then position the Drive Belt before removing the engine support fixture and air cleaner assembly and reconnecting the negative Battery Cable and filling the cooling system.
