  • Q: How to Replace the Battery Cable on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
    A: The first procedure includes disconnecting the negative cable from the battery while carefully opening the cover of the junction block terminals. Proceed by untightening the junction block terminal nut followed by disconnecting the positive/negative Battery Cable terminal from the junction block terminal stud and lastly take out the positive/negative ground nut and terminal from the tie bar stud. Raising and supporting the vehicle requires removal of the positive/negative Battery Cable clip from the ecm/tcm bracket. Automatic transaxle models require the disconnection of both the Starter solenoid nut and positive/negative Battery Cable base and the transaxle stud ground terminal and nut. The first step requires removing the positive/negative cable ground nut and terminal from the transaxle stud for both automatic and manual transaxle models. This must be followed by the Starter solenoid nut removal and positive/negative cable removal from the Starter assembly. When installing the positive/negative cable onto the Starter you should tighten the Starter solenoid nut to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Placement of the positive/negative cable ground terminal on the transaxle stud should be followed by secure tightening of the ground nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The installation process requires both automatic transaxle models to follow the same steps of Battery Cable positive/negative cable attachment to the Starter and solenoid network tightening to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Then connect the transaxle stud to the ground terminal with nut tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Lower the vehicle while you put the positive/negative Battery Cable clip onto the ecm/tcm bracket followed by adding the positive/negative ground terminal with nut to the tie bar stud. Use the junction block terminal stud to connect the positive/negative Battery Cable terminal then fasten it with the junction block terminal nut tightened to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Use the junction block terminal cover first to close it while reattaching the negative Battery Cable.
