2006 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How is the Crankshaft Position Sensor System Variation Learn Procedure Performed After Engine Repairs on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A: The Crankshaft position (CKP) system variation learn process is required after replacing the engine, ecm, crankshaft damper, crankshaft, ckp sensor, or any work done on the engine that disrupts the relationship between the Crankshaft and ckp sensor, even if there is no set dtc p0315. A scan tool has to be used to monitor component signals such as ckp sensor activity, camshaft position (CMP) signal activity and engine coolant temperature (ECT). If the ect is not warm enough idling until coming to the correct heating. Start with installing a scan tool and checking the Engine Control Module (ECM) for dtcs. Check the relevant dtc list if any other dtcs are set except for p0315. In the next step, choose the ckp system variation learn procedure from the special functions menu on the scan tool and do the following: observe the fuel cut-off for the applicable engine, block the drive wheels, parking brake, transmission in park or neutrals, air conditioning (A/C), off, ignition off, cycle from (OFF to ON) Brake Pedal, engine start and idle, accelerate to tops of (WOT) do not go above valued fuel cut-off rpm. Cut throttle immediately upon exceeding the value and after fuel cut-off. Yanking the throttle once the engine begins to give up during the learn will compensate for sustaining engine control up with the operator. The scan tool will show learn status: learned this ignition; learned this ignition, if dtc p0325 ran and passed the procedure is completed. In case of failure or non-functioning, refer to dtc p0315. After completion, turn off the ignition for 30 seconds.
