2006 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the heated oxygen sensor at position 2 on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A: You should start by taking off the wheel drive shaft heat shield to change the heated Oxygen Sensor at position 2. Before the sensor replacement you must remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer while disconnecting the engine harness electrical connector from the ho2s. The ho2s replacement procedure for a manual transaxle starts with removing the cpa retainer followed by detaching the engine harness electrical connector from the sensor. The trough on the Exhaust Heat Shield needs a slight bend downward to expose the ho2s electrical harness lead before you can remove the ho2s. The threads of the original ho2s require gm part 12377953 anti-seize compound for installation only if you wish to reattach it. Secure the ho2s while tightening it to 42 n.m (31 lb ft). The ho2s electrical harness lead should go into the Exhaust Heat Shield trough before gently folding it upward. When installing a manual transaxle the engine harness electrical connector should be fastened to the ho2s followed by installing the cpa retainer. The engine harness electrical connector should be easily attached to the ho2s before securing the cpa retainer for an automatic transmission. You should install the wheel drive shaft heat shield as your last step.
