2007 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 on 2007 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Begin the heated Oxygen Sensor 2 replacement process by checking the Oxygen Sensor's pigtail and connector for separation because it could lead to operational problems. The Exhaust Manifold/pipe threads require careful handling to avoid damage alongside preventative measures for contaminant exposure on the in-line connector and louvered end that diligent solvent cleaning must be avoided. The sensor becomes resistant to removal when the engine temperature falls below 48°c (120°F). Manual transaxle vehicles need their wheel drive shaft heat shield removed before moving forward. When working on sensors with automatic transaxle configurations disconnect the ho2s connector after removing the connector position assurance retainer. Manual transaxle vehicles require two steps: first remove the cpa retainer while disconnecting the engine harness electrical connector from the ho2s. Using a metal rod fold down the Exhaust Heat Shield trough to access the ho2s electrical harness lead before removing the sensor. To help future removals, apply anti-seize compound gm p/n 12377953 or equivalent to the old ho2s threads during reinstallation. Secure the ho2s with 42 n.m of torque (31 lb ft). Reinstall the ho2s electrical harness lead into the Exhaust Heat Shield trough then gently lift the trough above its original position. When installing the ho2s on manual transaxle vehicles you must connect the engine harness electrical connector to the sensor while installing the cpa retainer. Automatic transaxle vehicle ho2s requires an electrical connector from the engine harness for connection to the sensor followed by the cpa retainer installation. The wheel drive shaft heat shield needs to be reinstalled for manual transaxle vehicles.
