2007 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the positive and negative battery cables on 2007 Chevrolet HHR?
A: The battery replacement process begins with disconnecting the negative cable and after that opening the junction terminal cover before proceeding. Start by removing the junction block terminal nut before taking out the positive/negative Battery Cable terminal from the junction block terminal stud. Finish by removing the positive/negative ground nut together with the positive/negative ground terminal from the tie bar stud. The procedure starts by removing the positive/negative cable clip at the ecm/tcm bracket then supporting the vehicle while raising it. Start by removing the positive/negative Battery Cable ground nut followed by the positive/negative cable ground terminal from the transaxle stud and finally unfastening the starter solenoid nut as well as the positive/negative Battery Cable from the starter. The Battery Cable ground procedure starts by removing the positive/negative cable ground terminal from the transaxle stud followed by the positive/negative cable ground nut then moving to the starter solenoid nut and Battery Cable. Installation of positive/negative Battery Cable to the starter follows by installation of the starter solenoid nut with a final torque of 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Connect the positive/negative cable ground terminal to the transaxle stud and the positive/negative Battery Cable ground nut then tighten both to 10 n.m (89 lb in). When installing battery cables on a starter with automatic transaxle perform the following sequence: first attach the terminal to starter then fasten the starter solenoid with 17 n.m (13 lb ft) torque before terminating the terminal at the transaxle stud. Finally secure the terminal with 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque at the transaxle stud. After vehicle lowering install the positive/negative Battery Cable clip onto the ecm/tcm bracket followed by the installation of positive/negative ground terminal and positive/negative ground nut on the tie bar stud. Secure the positive/negative Battery Cable terminal to the junction block terminal stud followed by the junction block terminal nut where you should tighten it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Then close the junction block terminal cover and complete the procedure by connecting the negative Battery Cable.
