2006 Chevrolet HHR Flywheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine flywheel on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A: The procedure to replace an engine Flywheel starts by taking off the transaxle when using automatic transmission or the clutch when operating with manual transmission. Affix the crankshaft balancer holder (J 38122-A) for securing the crankshaft balancer. Users might need to strip the chamfer on eighteen millimeter sockets to enhance their effectiveness on small-headed Flywheel bolts. Before moving forward remove the automatic transaxle bolts which hold the Flywheel in place and continue by removing the Flywheel piece without placing it near the crankshaft since the Flywheel was previously balanced independently. Retrieve the manual transaxle Flywheel by removing its bolts followed by the Flywheel without positioning it relative to the crankshaft. Clean all remnants of thread adhesive from the Flywheel bolt holes by using a brush made of nylon bristles. When installing the manual transaxle Flywheel users should start by attaching the Flywheel first before securing the bolts to 53 nm (39 ft. Lbs.) plus an additional 25 degrees determined through use of the angle meter (J 45059). Finally install automatic transaxle Flywheel bolts while using the angle meter (J 45059) to achieve the same specifications for tightening. First remove the crankshaft balancer holder (J 38122-A) then reinstall the clutch with manual transaxle systems or install the automatic transmission into the engine block.
