2006 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Before replacing the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring you must take out the Camshaft and Camshaft roller followers first. You should first attach the valve spring compressor (J 43649) to the Cylinder Head and turn off the spark plugs for the process. Place the Air Hose adapter into the Spark Plug opening then add an Air Hose to this end. Force compressed air into the cylinder until it reaches 690 kpa (100 psi) pressure. With the valve spring compressor j 43649 use compressed air to compress the valve spring before removing all valve spring components. The valve guide seal remover model j 36017 helps you to safely extract the valve seals. Install the new valve seal with the valve guide seal remover j 36017 until it completely rests on the valve guide. Position the valve spring while using the valve spring compressor (J 43649). Afterward, fit the valve spring keepers and repeat spring compression prior to valve spring fix in place. Unplug the Air Hose from its adapter and remove both parts from the Spark Plug hole after extracting the valve spring compressor (J 43649) from the Cylinder Head. Complete the procedure by putting back the spark plugs and placing the Camshaft's roller followers and Camshaft in their proper positions.
