2007 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2007 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Start Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring replacement by taking out both the Camshaft and spark plugs along with the Camshaft roller followers. Hook up the valve spring compressor unit j 43649 onto the cylinder head then place an Air Hose adapter into the Spark Plug opening and link an Air Hose to the adapter. Apply 690 kpa of compressed air to the cylinder then push down the valve spring with the valve spring compressor (J 43649). Compress the valve spring using the j 43649 valve spring compressor to access valve spring components at their base position from top to bottom and its seal from the valve guide using j 36017. Use the valve guide seal remover tool j 36017 to install a new valve seal correctly on the valve guide surface. Put in each valve part starting with valve spring then compress it with the valve spring compressor (J 43649) before installing the valve spring keepers. To conclude the repair process you must disconnect the Air Hose from the adapter then remove the adapter and hose from the Spark Plug hole. Put the valve spring compressor (J 43649) aside and reinstall the Camshaft rollers first followed by spark plugs and Camshaft.
