2007 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What tools are required to service and repair the valve guide seal, replace the valve stem oil seal, and valve spring on 2007 Chevrolet HHR?
A: The necessary tools for valve seal service consist of valve spring compressor j 43649 combined with Valve Stem Oil Seal remover j 36017. First pull out the Camshaft while also taking out the spark plugs and roller followers of the Camshaft. Add the valve spring compressor (J 43649) to the cylinder head system and connect the Air Hose adapter to the Spark Plug hole before connecting an Air Hose to the adapter. Pressurize the cylinder to 690 kpa (100 psi) using compressed air flow and compress the valve spring with the valve spring compressor (J 43649). Take out the valve spring keepers, valve spring retainer, and valve spring from their places using proper tools. Put the Valve Stem Oil Seal remover j 36017 tool onto the valve seal to take it out. To put in the new valve seal use the Valve Stem Oil Seal remover (J 36017) tool by placing it directly on the valve guide and pushing the valve seal into proper position. After putting in the valve spring keepers reopen the valve spring using the valve spring compressor (J 43649) item. End the process by disconnecting the Air Hose from the adapter then removing the adapter from the Spark Plug hole. Take out the valve spring compressor (J 43649) from the cylinder head and replace the Camshaft roller followers, spark plugs, and Camshaft.
