    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and Valve Stem Oil Seal on the right side on Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should remove the Starter motor and rocker arms first to access the right-side valve stem oil seal and valve spring. When the en-46106 (Flywheel Holding Tool) stays unused the Crankshaft turns freely requiring all camshaft timing parts to be disassembled and reinstalled. Put the en-46106 holding tool on first to stop Crankshaft movement and connect a compressed air source using j-39313 (Spark Plug Port Adapter) to the Spark Plug opening. Put the en-46110 (On-Vehicle Valve Spring Compressor) in position above the affected cylinder and secure its nut. Release the valve stem retainers then ease the compressor nut to remove valve spring retainer along with the spring. To take out the valve stem seal you need to use the en-46116 seal removal tool. Use the en-46116 to put new valve stem seals properly before adding the valve spring and retainer assembly. Place the en-46110 compressor above the valve spring then tighten its nut. Finally install the valve spring keepers. Take out the compressor while disconnecting the j-39313 to air supply and pulling out the adapter. Reinstall all spark plugs plus rocker arms while putting back the Starter at the end of your work using en-46106 tool.

    Q:
What tools are required to service and repair the valve guide seal, replace the valve stem oil seal, and valve spring on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
Our procedure needs the valve spring compressor item j 43649 and the Valve Stem Oil Seal remover item j 36017 to perform Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring work. Start the job by taking out both Camshaft components and Camshaft roller followers. Add the front section of valve spring compressor j 43649 to the second Camshaft cover bolt hole before attaching the remaining parts to the cylinder head. Install an Air Hose adapter into the Spark Plug port and afterward attach an Air Hose to it before pushing 690 kpa (100 psi) compressed air into the cylinder. Pressurize the cylinder when installing the valve spring compressor j 43649 to compress the valve spring. Later remove valve spring keepers, valve spring retainer, and valve spring. To remove the valve seal you need to use Valve Stem Oil Seal remover tool j 36017. Insert the new valve seal onto the valve guide using Valve Stem Oil Seal remover tool j 36017 until it sits properly. Place the valve spring on the valve and position the valve spring retainer. Let the valve spring compressor work (J 43649) to compress the valve spring and set the valve spring keepers. Unplug the Air Hose connection from the adapter and take out the adapter from the Spark Plug hole. Set the spark plugs in their positions before replacing both the Camshaft roller followers and the Camshaft.

    Q:
How to service and repair the valve stem oil seal and valve spring on Chevrolet Cavalier? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before working on the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring you must first remove the Camshaft and its Camshaft roller followers. After placing the valve spring compressor (J 43649) on the Cylinder Head you need to take out the spark plugs. Connect the air hose adapter to the Spark Plug hole before pressing 690 kpa (100 psi) air into the cylinder. Pressurize the Cylinder Head through the Spark Plug hole then compress the spring before taking off its spring keepers and the spring itself. To replace the Valve Stem Oil Seal you need to use a Valve Stem Oil Seal remover tool model j 36017. You can save the new Valve Stem Oil Seal using the Valve Stem Oil Seal remover j 36017 and then put the valve spring in place after. Reapply valve spring pressure before inserting the valve spring keepers. Pull out the air hose adapter from the Spark Plug hole before you detach the valve spring compressor (J 43649) from the Cylinder Head. Put back the Camshaft roller followers and spark plugs before placing the Camshaft.

    Q:
What tools are required to service and repair the valve guide seal, replace the valve stem oil seal, and valve spring on Chevrolet HHR? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve assembly parts need the use of a valve spring compressor (J 43649) and Valve Stem Oil Seal remover (J 36017) for proper maintenance. First take off the Camshaft before removing the spark plugs and Camshaft roller followers. Mount the front part of j43649 valve spring compressor on the second Camshaft cover bolt hole while attaching other components to the cylinder head. Insert the Spark Plug air hose adapter into the opening and join an air hose. Compressed air at 690 kpa (100 psi) should then pressurize the cylinder. Use the valve spring compressor (J 43649) to press down the spring before taking off both valve spring keepers plus retainer and spring. Insert the Valve Stem Oil Seal remover tool j 36017 to uninstall the valve seal. You can install the new valve seal with the Valve Stem Oil Seal remover j 36017 device by pressing it slowly onto the valve guide until it touches the bottom surface. Pump up the valve spring with the valve spring compressor j 43649 before adding the valve spring retention devices. Take away the air hose and air hose adapter from the Spark Plug opening before disassembling the valve spring compressor (J 43649) from the cylinder head. Place back the Camshaft roller followers and spark plugs after installing the Camshaft.

    Q:
What tools are required to service and repair the valve guide seal, replace the valve stem oil seal, and valve spring on GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
A complete tool set needed to fix Valve Stem Oil Seal includes valve guide seal remover (EN-36017), valve spring compressor (EN-43649), valve spring compressor adaptor set (EN-43649-10), and flywheel holding tool (EN-43653). Before starting the work you need to block the Crankshaft from moving while using pressurized air in the cylinder. You should leave manual transmission vehicles in first gear with the parking brake engaged. Take away the Starter unit when dealing with automatic transmissions. Slip the flywheel holding tool (EN-43653) onto the device and take out the Camshaft and Camshaft roller followers. Place the valve spring compressor adaptor set (EN-43649-10) against the cylinder head and secure the valve spring compressor (EN-43649) to these adaptors. Put an air hose connector into the Spark Plug opening and set cylinder pressure at 690 kpa or 100 psi through the hose adapter. With the valve spring compressor fix the valve spring then take out the valve spring keepers, valve spring, and retainer. You should take off the valve seal with the valve guide seal remover (EN-36017) tool next place a new Valve Stem Oil Seal, valve spring, and retainer before compressing the spring and putting in the keepers. Unplug the air compressor hose and take out the valve spring compressor and its adapter tools. Install new spark plugs with the Camshaft roller followers and Camshaft in their proper places. Close with the flywheel holding device (EN-43653) when done and put back the Starter if needed.
