    A: The procedure to replace the intake camshaft and lifters starts with removing the camshaft cover and upper Timing Chain Guide. Proceed by installing the sprocket holding tool (J 43655) before removing both the intake and exhaust camshaft sprocket bolts which should be discarded. Record the position of each bearing cap before moving the camshaft sprockets forward to keep them in their initial order. Perform one round of bolt removal from each bearing cap sequence until camshaft spring tension disappears and proceed to remove the caps and the intake camshaft and then all components including roller followers and hydraulic element adjusters. Begin installation by providing lubrication to tips and then install both camshaft follower rollers and hydraulic element lash adjusters but keep alignment notches facing the camshaft sprocket. The intake camshaft along with bearing caps needs to be installed while bearing cap bolts get tightened in successive 3-turn increments before achieving a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Additionally apply a 5 mm (0.197 in) permatex anaerobic gasket maker (51813) bead at the rear intake camshaft bearing cap. Install the rear intake camshaft bearing cap bolts after applying 5 mm (0.197 in) bead of permatex anaerobic gasket maker (51813) while maintaining a torque of 25 n.m (18 lb ft). After placing the camshaft sprockets on the camshafts lock the new camshaft sprocket bolts manually before taking away the sprocket holding tool (J 43655). The last step involves tightening camshaft sprocket bolts to 85 n.m (63 lb ft) plus 30 degrees angle, adding the upper Timing Chain Guide with 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque, then reinstalling the camshaft cover.
