The beginning step to replace the intake camshaft and valve lifters requires removing both the camshaft position intake actuator and high pressure Fuel Pump by bolt removal one turn at a time to reduce camshaft spring tension. Mark each bearing cap before unfastening its bolts to remove all bearing caps and valve lifter follower. Close the cylinder head by tightening the opening plate bolts first and remove the rear bearing cap bolts and cap. The intake camshaft removal process includes separating the components from its recipients except roller followers and hydraulic valve lash adjusters for reinstallation purposes. The valve rocker arms and hydraulic valve lash adjusters need to be removed after each other. The hydraulic valve lash adjusters need installation in their cylinder head bores while the user should apply lubrication to both the valves tips and adjusters. Used valve rocker arms require returning to their original positions but new rocker arms must be used for replacing the camshaft. After lubricating valve rocker arms attached to the stem and adjuster you can install the intake camshaft while adding lubrication for protection. A 3.5 mm (0.138 in) sealer bead should be applied to the cylinder head where it extends 4.0 mm (0.1575 in) past the rear bearing cap ends while remaining 4.0 mm (0.1575 in) short of the endpoints. Place the rear bearing cap followed by its bolts and tighten them to 10 nm (89 lb in). After that, use the same torques to install the cylinder head opening plate together with its bolts. Mount the valve lifter follower while putting the cylinder head caps on in their proper order before setting the camshaft bearing caps and installing bearing cap bolts by hand first. Tighten all bearing cap bolts to 10 nm (89 lb in). Tighten the bearing cap bolts gradually by 3 turns before ending at 10 nm torque (89 lb in). The last installation steps include putting back the high pressure Fuel Pump and the camshaft position intake actuator.
