2006 Chevrolet Malibu Air Bag Clockspring Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring on 2006 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Begin coil replacement of the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module after disabling the sir system while taking all required safety measures. Right before beginning remove all inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module components and Steering Wheel and steering column trim covers. Disconnect the sir harness and extract the air bag clock spring from the Steering Shaft. Discard the existing air bag clock spring whenever you need to replace it with a new one. You should direct both wheels forward before you line up the block tooth with the 12 o'clock centering mark on the race assembly and upper shaft. Movement of the new air bag clock spring begins with pre-centering at installation. The centering tab must stay in place until you reach the final stage of installation. Insert the new air bag clock spring onto the Steering Shaft assembly after powering on the sir harness and discarding the centering tab. Complete the installation by placing back the steering column trim covers and Steering Wheel before installing the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and activating the sir system.
