Disabling the sir system is the process to be initiated before enhancing the inflatable restraint
Steering Wheel module coil. Take away the Steering Wheel assembly, tilt lever, and the instrument panel carrier. Pull out the sir wiring harness from the back of the fuse panel and then remove the multi-function lever. Pull the coil assembly retaining clip and scissors the plastic zip tie to release the air bag clock spring wiring harness before removing the coil assembly. Expansion valve for installing, in case of re-installation of a removed previously coil assembly, first install the coil assembly on
Steering Column, ensuring that it is correctly aligned. Take note that the coil assembly may change its center if the Steering Column is disconnected from the steering gear, or the centering spring is pressed down. Place the horn tower at the cancelling cam assembly inner ring, and the projections at the outer ring for it. Assemble the pre-centered coil assembly to the Steering Column, remove and discard the centering tab, and install coil assembly retaining ring in alignment with the groove on the shaft. Carefully pull the lower coil assembly wire to remove any kinks to ensure that these kinks or bends cannot affect the shaft lock mechanism, and also avoid damaging the wire when turning the Steering Wheel. Route the air bag clock spring wiring harness and install new plastic zipties and install the coil assembly retaining clip and connect the sir harness to the back of the fuse panel. Last of all, replace the instrument panel carrier, tilt lever and the Steering Wheel assembly, and there should be an activation of the sir system.
