How to service and repair the Air Bag Clockspring off on 2000 Chevrolet Malibu?

Start service and repair of the SIR Air Bag Clock Spring off the vehicle by setting up the wave washer and SIR coil assembly. The block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly should be placed at 12 o'clock alignment. Always keep the key in the off position before taking it out. The precentered SIR coil assembly does not need the back tab depressed. Reposition the original SIR coil before installation if using it again. To install the SIR coil assembly onto the race and upper shaft assembly keep the orange tab separate and discard it before putting the retaining ring in place.
