How to replace the rear parking brake cable for drum brakes on 2006 Chevrolet Malibu?

Since the replacement of the rear park brake cable for drum brakes starts by releasing the park brake pedal completely the installer must remove the floor console together with the rear carpet. Solve the right rear or left rear park brake cable free from their connection with the console park brake bracket and the front park brake cable equalizer. First support the vehicle with a hoist and then lower the short cable from the drum unit to release cable system pressure through cable disconnect from the cable connector . The body receives its plastic retainer clips removed before extracting the brake cable through the Trailing Arm. The plastic retainer clip attached to the stud needs removal followed by extracting the park brake cable and pass-thru grommet from the body. Installation begins by placing the park brake cable inside the vehicle before using the pass-thru grommet for body attachment followed by plastic retainer clip installation to the stud. After raising the vehicle install plastic retainer clips on the body then guide the brake cable into the Trailing Arm section to link the park brake cable with the cable connector. You should lower the vehicle to reattach either the right rear park brake cable or left rear cable to the console park brake bracket and front park brake cable equalizer. You can then reinstall the rear carpet with the floor console. Finish the process by performing four independent pedal cycles of the park brake mechanism.
