How to replace the rear parking brake cable for rear drum brakes on 2005 Chevrolet Malibu?

The first step to replace the rear park brake cable for rear drum brakes is to fully release the park brake pedal and remove both the floor console and rear carpet. The right rear brake cable or left rear brake cable needs to be detached from the console park brake bracket along with the front park brake cable equalizer. The vehicle needs support when elevated and you must pull down the short cable until the system releases tension before disconnection from the cable connector. The body requires removal of plastic retainer clips while the brake cable needs extraction from the Trailing Arm. First lower the vehicle before removing the plastic retainer clip from the stud and extracting both the park brake cable along with pass-thru grommet from the body. You can begin by putting the park brake cable into the vehicle and connecting the pass-thru grommet to the body before fastening the round plastic retainer clip onto the specified stud.
