2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front shock absorber assembly on 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The first step when changing strut assemblies requires upper nut removal of the struts. Use ONLY frame-contact vehicle lifts to raise the vehicle and maintain correct support of the vehicle platform during the operation. Scribe the strut onto the knuckle before tire and wheel removal. First dismantle the bolts and nuts from the strut lower part before extracting the strut. Position the strut correctly then install the upper strut nuts to a torque of 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). The installation of strut lower bolts and nuts requires fastener cleanliness and rust-free material while developing 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) of torque/drag against the opposite side before final seating. if not, replace the fastener. Adjust the strut towards the marked knuckle surface and tighten its lower nuts to 130 Nm (96 ft. lbs.). After completion, return the tire and wheel to its place and lower the vehicle before performing front wheel alignment.
