How to replace the front brake caliper bracket on the 1500 Series on 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

You can start replacing the front Brake Caliper Bracket on 1500 series trucks after inspecting the master cylinder brake fluid level. If the fluid sits at the midway point, keep it there but lower it if the level reaches above middle. First push the brake caliper pistons back into their housing by applying 2 large c-clamps over the caliper part onto the pads. Take off brake caliper bolts but stay away from depressing the Brake Pedal while working with detached brake parts to shield them from harm. Support the caliper using mechanic's wire without disconnecting the hydraulic brake hose and then remove brake pads and anti-rattle clips. Once completed, take out bolts securing the Brake Caliper Bracket and its plate. Wipe away all dirt from the interior parts of the caliper bracket and from its mounting surfaces. Install the new Brake Caliper Bracket by applying threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) onto its bolts before tightening them to 180 nm (133 ft. Lbs.). Install the anti-rattle clips and brake pads with the pads resting on the rotor surface before fixing the caliper to the bracket using bolts torqued to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). Set the tire and wheel back in place afterward, lower the vehicle. With engine off apply Brake Pedal 2/3 of its distance then release it slowly. Press the Brake Pedal twice for 15 seconds to guarantee the caliper pistons and pads are fully situated in their position. End by adding clean brake fluid to reach the proper reservoir amount.
