2007 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right side camshaft on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?
A: Starting the replacement of the right side Camshaft requires removing the upper Intake Manifold together with the lower Intake Manifold and subsequent removal of the Camshaft cover as well as Camshaft sensors and intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid. Then use the provided Crankshaft rotation socket (EN 46111) to move the Crankshaft in order to achieve a neutral position with parallel flat camshafts against the Camshaft cover rail. Keep in mind that the Camshaft position should be low tension. The use of an open-end wrench on the Camshaft hex prevents Camshaft and engine rotation but keep the Camshaft position actuator bolt loose before removal. Position the Timing Chain retention tool (EN 46108) tips completely into the Timing Chain space before using en 46108 to secure the Timing Chain preventively tighten its securing nuts. Mark the Timing Chain and corresponding sections on the Camshaft position actuators before removing the Camshaft position actuator bolt. Continue by taking off the Camshaft bearing caps combined with the Camshaft. Secure both marks on the Camshaft position actuators and Timing Chain while omitting Camshaft position actuator bolt tightening steps. The camshafts should be moved into position on the Cylinder Head followed by installing Camshaft actuators onto the camshafts before installing both components together. Dismantle en 46108 while integrating the Crankshaft balancer before using an open-end wrench on the hex of the Camshaft hex to halt both Camshaft and engine rotation. After placing all components in order install and tighten the Camshaft position actuators followed by the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid along with Camshaft sensors and the Camshaft cover and upper Intake Manifold with lower Intake Manifold.
