2007 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2007 Buick Lucerne?
A: The first task for Oil Pan replacement requires engine support fixture installation after removing the air cleaner outlet duct. Start by elevating the vehicle and sustaining it in position before removing Catalytic Converter to exhaust manifold nuts. The first step involves draining engine oil and filter removal and connection removal of the engine harness to the oil level sensor. After disconnecting the front Engine Mount to the frame nut the vehicle should lower while using the engine support fixture to elevate the engine. The vehicle must be raised once more to remove front Engine Mount Bracket bolts before you can detach the front Engine Mount Bracket including its mount. Start by removing the transaxle brace to Oil Pan bolt along with the transaxle brace to transaxle bolts and the transaxle brace to Oil Pan bolts before completing transaxle brace removal. First remove the front torque converter cover bolt followed immediately by the front torque converter cover then proceed with removing rear torque converter cover bolts before taking off the rear torque converter cover . Prior to removing the Oil Pan a proper removal of the oil level sensor will protect it from damage. Take out the oil level sensor and then remove the Oil Pan bolts one by one before extracting the Oil Pan. Clean every debris off the Oil Pan bolts. The installation procedure requires applying rtv sealer into a 6.35 mm (0.25 in) thick continuous bead that must fill the Oil Pan groove before applying additional sealer to the four locations for complete Oil Pan sealing. The installation of the oil level sensor must happen after you put the Oil Pan in its position to protect the sensor from damage. Use threadlock drops on each bolt before positioning the Oil Pan onto the engine. When tightening the Oil Pan bolts restrain from overtorquing below 14 n.m (10 lb ft). Screw the oil-level sensor into position while applying torque at 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Place the rear torque converter cover into its position before you install its bolts and torques them to 7.5 n.m (66 lb in). The front torque converter cover requires installation with its bolt alongside a 7.5 n.m (66 lb in) tightness setting. Attach the transaxle brace to each Oil Pan bolt at 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque before securing the transaxle bolts with a 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque and finally securing the Oil Pan bolt at 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque. Install the front Engine Mount Bracket with its mount-positioned correctly then tighten all bracket bolts to 70 n.m (52 lb ft). Use the engine support fixture to lower the engine after lowering the vehicle. Then re-lift the vehicle once again. Run a torque of 80 n.m (59 lb ft) on the front Engine Mount as you install it to the frame. At first connect the engine harness electrical connector to the oil level sensor before reinstalling the Catalytic Converter to exhaust manifold nuts using 35 n.m (26 lb ft) torque. Start by lowering the vehicle before you install both the air cleaner intake duct and then the Oil Filter followed by engine oil refilling.
