2007 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing and hub on 2007 Buick Lucerne?
A: To replace the front Wheel Bearing and hub, first lift and secure the vehicle as well as remove the tire and wheel. Clean the threads of the drive axle of all objects, and a drift punch or an end of a screw-driver chamber in the caliper and the rotor to prevent its momentary operation. Loosen the drive axle nut and the brake rotor thereafter, make sure you remove the front wheel speed sensor connector and unclip it from the dust shield of antilock brake system (ABS). Then, unscrew the Wheel Bearing/hub-retaining bolts, and make sure that the hub and bearing is substituted only as a group. The replacement of ball bearings and changing them with a large single piece bearing necessitates the removal of Wheel Bearing/hub from the Steering Knuckle and the dust shield. Use the front hub spindle remover (J 28733-B) to remove the hub and bearing from drive axle. Clean the rust and foreign material from knuckle mounting face, bore, and chamber so that the bearing will seat properly in the knuckle. Before installing, remove the protective plastic protection and be careful not to touch the knuckle or hub assembly to the abs sensor wire. Install the dust shield carefully, without having the fouling the bearing outboard lip seal and hub and bearing bolts. Apply a thin layer of grease on the Steering Knuckle bore before installing the Wheel Bearing/hub and dust shield to the Steering Knuckle. Install the Wheel Bearing/hub retaining bolts and apply 130 n.m (96 lb ft) to tighten them. Mount a new drive axle nut to pull out the Wheel Bearing/hub off the axle, than plug the abs front wheel speed sensor connector and attach it to the dust shield. Mount the brake rotor, apply a drift punch or screwdriver into the caliper and rotor untying it from rotating, attach the drive axle nut to the maximum torque of 120 n.m (118 lb.ft). Lastly, fix the tire and wheel and lower the car.
