2007 Buick Rainier Seat Cushion Pad Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace a Seat Cushion Pad and Seat Back Cushion Cover on 2007 Buick Rainier?
A: Replacing the front seat back cushion cover and cushion pad starts by setting the lumbar in relaxed mode followed by front seat assembly removal from the vehicle. To begin replace the front seat back cushion start by unfastening the screw which secures the seat belt bezel from the top of the seat back panel. Additionally unfasten the head restraint and seat pad trim panel. Unfasten the j-strips located at positions 1 and 4 across the seat back bottom and remove the push-pins which secure the seat cover on the seat frame. A flat-bladed tool should be used to carefully disconnect the plastic strips which hold the seat back cover to the side air bag inflator module cover while you remove the seat back cover from its position behind the trim edge of the side air bag inflator module. The pad on the seat back needs compression to avoid damage to the seat cover followed by slow removal of the seat back cover without unplugging the adhesive strip found on the pad's back. The lower velcro retaining strips should be released from inside the seat cover while you remove the 3 hog rings which secure the seat back pad to the reinforcement bar located at the top of the seat back. The guides can be removed by unlocking them through pressure on their tabs before pulling them upward while spreading the pad. Disconnection of the seat back heating element electrical connector should take place before carefully extracting the pad from the frame of the seat back. Position the seat back pad onto the frame of the seat back while connecting the electrical connector to the heating element when such a feature exists. The seat back cover receives a partial installation on top of the seat as you insert the head restraint guides making sure locking tabs reach full seating position while right-hand guide sports the release tab. Install the hog rings which will secure the seat back pad to the reinforcement bar while keeping the cover at an 18 cm (7 in) distance from its top exposure. Fold the seat back pad underneath the cover before pressing the hook and loop strips together tightly. Secure the seat belt bezel on the seat back top with the mounting screw at 3 n.m (26 lb in) torque. Slowly pass the plastic strips from behind the side air bag inflator module until the seat back cover lies between the trim edge. First, use the j-strips and secure them at the bottom of the seat back cover while you install the seat cover flaps through push pins before adding the seat trim panel alongside the head restraint and the front seat assembly reinstallation in the vehicle.
