- Q: How to replace the front seat cushion pad and cover on 2006 Buick Rainier?A: You should start cushion pad and cover replacement by unscrewing the seat switch bezel screws with three bolts together with the four nuts which connect the seat pan to the seat adjuster assembly. The front outboard seat pan stud should have its clip removed by those with equipment before disposal. Start by releasing the J strips from both sides of the seat cushion and then proceed by removing the front as well as rear J strips. The first step involves removing all attachments between the SIR electrical harness and seat electrical harness from the seat pan along with removing their fasteners. To proceed remove the seat cushion heater electrical connector from its connection point if installed. The adhesive-backed strip of the seat pad should remain untouched while using the hook and loop retaining strips to separate them. Remove one hog ring from the bottom rear side of the cover while unfastening eleven hog rings on its top side. First extract the seat frame module retaining screw and seat module if it exists before removing the seat trim cover combined with the pad and seat frame. You should remove the seat cover from the seat cushion followed by the seat cushion removal from the seat pan. Start by placing the seat cushion on the seat pan followed by attaching the seat cover to the cushion by moving it from side to side. Install the seat module when equipped with the retaining screw tightened to 5 N.m (44 lb in). First fasten the 11 hog rings to the cover and pad surface at the top section followed by installing the 2 hog rings at the bottom rear side of both components. Reengage the seat heater electrical connector as you join the seat cover hook and loop retaining strips before installing the seat electrical harness together with the SIR electrical harness onto the seat pan. The front/rear J strips and side J strips need installation before securement of the seat pan to the seat adjuster frame. Attach four retaining nuts to studs on the cushion underside while screwing them to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Reinstall the 3 screws from the seat switch bezel.
