The replacement of the Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor starts with disabling the SIR system. Start by removing the center pillar lower trim followed by detaching the connector position assurance from the sensor's yellow 2-way harness connector and then disconnecting the wiring harness connector from the side impact sensor. Unscrew two fasteners securing the side impact sensor before removing the sensor from its position in the center pillar. The mounting surface should receive a cleaning operation to remove all dirt, grease and contaminants before installing the new inflatable restraint side impact sensor onto the center pillar.
