How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for Side Impact on 2006 Buick Rendezvous?

Before replacing the Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor operators must disable the SIR system. The inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS) requires secure attachment before power application to prevent SIR deployment and personal injury. Avoid striking or jolting the SIS during replacement. Start by removing the trim from the center pillar lower area followed by separating the connector position assurance component from the yellow 2-way harness at the sensor interface. The side impact sensor requires harness disconnect while using a tool to free its 2 mounting fasteners. Take the side impact sensor out from its position at the center pillar. Wash the mounting area thoroughly to remove all dirt grease and contaminants then install the new inflatable restraint side impact sensor onto the center pillar. Screw the 2 fasteners holding the side impact sensor with a torque of 10 N.m (89 lb in). You must reconnect the yellow 2-way harness connector to the side impact sensor while installing the CPA onto the yellow 2-way connector. Reinstall the center pillar lower trim before enabling the SIR system.
