  • Q: How to replace the Rear Crankshaft Seal using the EN-48108 Rear Main Seal Installer on 2007 Buick Terraza?
A: Input: to change the Crankshaft rear oil seal, use the en-48108 rear-main-oil- seal installer (EN-48108). Begin by removing the Flywheel. Take out the Crankshaft rear main oil seal with great care to avoid scratching the sealing surface of the Crankshaft. Pulling out a new style seal with the lip facing in, place a flat-bladed or a similar tool between the sealing lip of the seal and the outer casing at an angle and gently pry the seal out toward the center of the Crankshaft. To remove an old style seal with the lip inserted make sure to insert the tool at the area outside the outer seal casing but inside the engine block casting pressing down and out to remove the seal. Repeat the process where necessary to fully peel the seal. For installation, a unique design of the en-48108 tool permits a proper alignment and depth. Align mandrel dowel pin to the Crankshaft dowel pin hole and then tighten the mandrel screws to the Crankshaft using a large flat-bladed screwdriver to make sure it is snug. Mount the rear race main seal with the threaded nylon sheathing on the mandrel, followed by the outer drive drum. Next, mount the bearing , washer , and drive nut to the threaded shaft. A wrench should be used to rotate the drive nut on the mandrel that will force the seal into the engine block bore with the drive drum being flush against the engine block.plainolddata reduce the tightness of the drive nut, washer, bearing, and drive drum and discard the nylon plastic seal protector. Lastly, ensure that the seal is well seated and eliminated using a flat-bladed screwdriver to remove the left-handed and right-handed screws present in securing the mandrel with the Crankshaft hub, take off the mandrel from the Crankshaft hub.
