The right side Catalytic Converter replacement (LP1, LY7) requires a starting point of removing the right bank exhaust manifold heat shield and Catalytic Converter nuts. Place a jack to lift the vehicle and disconnect both Exhaust Pipe and Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors from the left and right side catalytic converters. After removing the right bank Catalytic Converter nuts from the Exhaust Pipe you must pull out the Catalytic Converter and associated seal and heat shield and Oxygen Sensor from the exhaust manifold. Take the Oxygen Sensor out of the Catalytic Converter next. Before installing the sensor begin by connecting it to the Catalytic Converter and verify that the sealing surface of the heat shield shows no damage or wear and replace if necessary. Place the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield onto the converter before reinstalling the unit properly onto the exhaust manifold through the fasteners. Check the Catalytic Converter seal while reconnecting Oxygen Sensor electrical connector then replace it when necessary. Fasten both catalytic converters with weatherproof exhaust pipes and secure the nuts to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). The lower position the vehicle before tightening the Catalytic Converter nuts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Next to reinstall the right bank exhaust manifold heat shield.
