• Q: How to replace the right side catalytic converter on 2008 Cadillac CTS?

  A: Before changing the right side Catalytic Converter, take off the right bank exhaust manifold heat shield. Follow that by taking off the Catalytic Converter nuts before jacking up and supporting the car. Remove the electrical connector from the Oxygen Sensor and take off the Exhaust Pipe from the left and right catalytic converters. Disconnect the nuts from the Exhaust Pipe to right bank Catalytic Converter, and then take out the Catalytic Converter, seal/heat shield, and Oxygen Sensor from the exhaust manifold. After that, take out the Oxygen Sensor from the Catalytic Converter. For installation, connect the Oxygen Sensor to the Catalytic Converter and inspect the sealing surface of the Catalytic Converter heat shield or seal. If you find any damage, put on a new one. After putting the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield onto the Catalytic Converter, place it on the exhaust manifold and use the fasteners to secure it. Fasten the Oxygen Sensor connector, then look at the Catalytic Converter seal and change it if needed. Secure the exhaust pipes and nuts to the left and right catalytic converters so that the nuts are tightened to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Next, lower the car and turn the Catalytic Converter nuts until they reach 50 n.m (37 lb ft). After that, fit the right bank exhaust manifold heat shield.
