After raising and supporting the vehicle you should remove the lower bolt holding the heat shield in place. Drilling between the center intermediate and lower intermediate shafts allows the shield removal procedure to take place. Start by removing the exhaust manifold heat shield after which you can proceed to unfasten the upper insulator of the oil level indicator tube along with the lower insulator of the oil level indicator and exhaust gasket. The installation process starts with attaching the lower insulator to the oil level indicator and exhaust gasket while the upper insulator should be attached to the oil level indicator tube if required. Start by installing the exhaust manifold heat shield then fasten the lower bolt yet do not apply torque. Set the vehicle to its lowest position before attaching the upper bolts then torque them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). You should once more lift the vehicle to tighten the lower bolt until it reaches 10 n.m (89 lb in). The last step involves coupling the center intermediate shaft back to the lower intermediate shaft after taking down the car body.
