Heat Shield, Driver Side

The first step when replacing an Exhaust Heat Shield for the center bearing involves securely lifting and stabilizing the vehicle. The first step requires removing all bolts that connect the center bearing heat shield to the center bearing. Slide the heat shield to one side when using it to pass through the area between the body, drive shaft center bearing and exhaust pipes before removing it from the vehicle. The new heat shield installation process requires insertion between the body and the drive shaft center bearing while positioning around the resonator where holes on both components must be properly aligned. Fasten the center bearing heat shield with bolts while tightening them to 8 nm (71 inch lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.

The first step to replace the Exhaust Heat Shield for the center bearing involves lifting and supporting the vehicle. Begin by removing the bolts which keep the center bearing heat shield connected to its position on the center bearing. The heat shield requires tilting in each direction to allow removing it between the body and drive shaft center bearing and exhaust pipes before complete vehicle removal. The new heat shield installation requires placement between the body and drive shaft center bearing along with the resonator while matching the heat shield holes with the center bearing holes. You should attach the bolts which secure the center bearing heat shield while tightening them to 8 n.m (71 lb in) before lowering the vehicle.

Slide the new heat shield in between the body, the drive shaft center bearing, and the resonator.

Remove the lower bolt of the heat shield and disconnect the center intermediate shaft from the lower intermediate shaft.

Install the upper insulator to the oil level indicator tube, if needed.

Take off the upper bolts of the exhaust manifold heat shield and raise and support the vehicle.

Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and detach the heat shield from the exhaust manifold.
