How to Replace a Shift Knob on a Manual Transmission on 2007 Cadillac CTS?

Begin the Shift Knob replacement process by lifting the ring holding the shift control closeout boot at its rear end off the console. Succeeding in removing the shift control knob from the shift lever needs substantial strength due to which users should hold the shift control knob firmly before pulling it straight up from its attachment to the shift lever. Start the procedure by removing the shift control closeout boot together with its knob assembly. To install place the shift control closeout boot and knob assembly onto the shift lever followed by a firm application of pressure on the shift control knob to secure it to the shift lever. Place the front tabs of the shift control closeout boot retaining ring into the console structure while pushing downwards the rear portion until it sits firmly inside the console. Close the shift control closeout boot retaining ring to the console by gently pulling on it.
