- Q: How to replace the wiper arm on a left-hand drive (LHD) on 2007 Cadillac CTS?A: You must first position the windshield wipers to park and raise the vehicle hood to start replacing the left-hand drive Wiper Arm. Position the driver side wiper onto the orange line at the Wiper Blade tip in the center bottom windshield while placing the passenger side wiper onto the orange dot at the wiper tip on the right side windshield bottom. First remove the covers from the Wiper Arm nuts before unscrewing the nuts attached to each drive spindle. To prevent damage particularly apply force once the liftgate or hood assist rod reaches its final position during the removing or attaching process. You must disconnect the upper hood assist rods from their ball studs when taking off the driver side Wiper Arm. Set the hood at its rearmost position then use a support to hold the entire hood unit in place. The Wiper Arm puller j39637 tool should be used if the Wiper Arm does not come free from the drive spindle easily. Scrub the Wiper Arm drive spindle knurls with a wire brush before taking the Wiper Blade off the Wiper Arm. After putting the Wiper Blade on the Wiper Arm, position the passenger side Wiper Arm so the blade tip lines up with the orange dot and set the driver side Wiper Arm next to the orange line. Keep the Wiper Arm positioned during nut tightening as you install it onto the drive spindle with 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Affix the upper hood assist rods to their ball studs and place installed Wiper Arm caps before securing the hood. Test windshield wipers to see that the driver section remains inside its wiping zone.
